Hi jim99,
Your question is not clear, you're talking about leaf material, grass etc or how to create a scene with istance?

Hi Paride,

Thanks for your reply, its really both questions really( material and instances). We need to create a garden scene with large number of grass and trees. I did some quick research, someone mentioned about forest pack pro and some how doesn't with octane ??

I am looking into best way to do heavy vegetation scene with octane... without switching to vray for rendering..

Thanks

Hi Jim99,
Forest pack is a good tools for istances, it works fine with Octane Render.
Some Itoo shaders are partially supported by Octane Render,
so you'll have to make your Octane materials or, if your model collections made for vray, convert them.
You can find some starting material in LiveDB > Organic > vegetation

Don't forget that the free version of forest pro only works on a flat plane.

So if your scene has any slopes then you'll have to shell out 200 euros every year to use forest pro.

Paride - what progress has been made with Octane scatter for max users?

That Price is "once" with 1 Jear Maintanance.. after that you wont get free updates but can still use the Version without issues

I strongly recommend Forest Pack.

All of my 3d works are made with Forest Pack.

You can try LITE version for free without time limitations.

Forest Pack materials are limited - OCTANE doesn't support Forest textures which can produce many colour variables of leaves/etc.

So, here is the question to OTOY - when it will be fully supported?

Aside from this Forest Pack works great with OCTANE and its objects intances/proxies.
