Hi,

Possible bug.
Having to check and and uncheck 'use pick focus region' every time to render region when render view is opened the next time or even just refreshing the IPR render.

I seem to have had some issues with this too but i'm not 100% sure if it was just my scene or an actual bug. have had a chance to test more.

It seems refresh to every time the camera is moved. But its not ideal if the camera angle is already locked in.

hi P.jsi,

Have you tried reopening Maya? Are you using multiple instances of Maya?

We are currently looking into this. Let us know if this solves the issue.
Kind Regards

For me, it appears I have to press the "set current for IPR" button to get the render region to work. It doesn't appear to require this in every scene though? some seem to work without it and some don't.

Hi,

Thanks for looking into this. Yes I have tried reopening and I am only using one instance of maya at a time , unfortunately its seems to be happening every time for me with every scene.

Basically, if the pick focus region is unchecked and the region is selected; and then when I press IPR render or refresh IPR - shouldn't it just refresh the selected region and not the entire frame ?

I have this issues most of the time with camera set as Maya reference from example animation file as reference for some reason Octanes break the camera and then any settings is working anymore but if I create a complete new camera is working.

I guess something is not working so well on the communication with standalone please give a check also with reference scenes.

Cheers,
JO

Hiya,

Thank you so much for your response. Octane for Maya render region works similarly with Standalone's technique.

Would you please follow this steps for render region and let us know how it goes.

1. Click on "IPR render current frame"

2. Uncheck the "Use Pick Focus region" (for render region)

3. Select the region you want to render and no need to click IPR render current or Refresh IPR.

Hope this help.
Kind Regards

Hi Jo,

Would you mind sending us the file for us to debug here? Only the broken camera in the scene will do.

Hi,

Thanks your instruction work fine if there is only 1 camera in the scene. However it still seems to happen when there are multiple cameras in a scene and when you switch between them.

It think I might have figured out whats going on. I have got a crazy theory.

It seems to be if 'UPFR'(use pick focus region) in other cameras or a camera is CHECKED ON and the camera you are using has 'UPFR' UNCHECKED. The other cameras seem to be influencing the 'UPFR" of the camera you are using.

Its more apparent if you have more than 2 or more cameras. Mainly happening with Persp camera.

Hack solution so far: Uncheck 'UPFR' in all cameras.

To test a scene:

1.Create a clean scene.
2.Use presp camera and uncheck the 'UPFR'.
3. Render with region > Works fine. (Most of the time)
4.Create a camera > camera 1
5. Switch to Camera 1 (which has the 'UPFR' on) and render the frame.
6. Switch back to Persp and Render region again. It does not work.
7. Turn off 'UPFR' in all cameras. Starts to work again,

Note: The Camera area static for this test. Lock the cameras. If the camera are moved while IPR, it seems to refresh properly sometimes but its not ideal.

I am using maya 2017. Windows 10. 950 GTX

Thanks
