I am having an issue were every exterior scene i try to render at a dark mood, were when i try to add fog using volume inside the HDRI, it just fills the whole scene with fog. were i wish it was exponential, the background is barely invisible, the midground is more visible and the foreground is visible even more. I know there are examples on this forum to achieve similar results, But the are using the sunlight inside octane. Anyone has any advice to make fog look more realistic ??
I believe inlifethrill has an example on his website where there is this black and white forest and the fog is very exponential in it
Exponential Fog ???

Hi youssef1992,
having Daylight or Texture Environment does not make so much difference with fog.
What about the Medium radius in comparison with your specific scene dimensions?
This value determs the dimension of the fog sphere that surrounds the scene starting from the camera position.

Hi Beppe,
Can you help me too? I have the exact same problem, all my environment fog is of uniform density regardless of camera distance?? Very frustrating and not good for realistic scenes. I have added an HDRI environment to my scene, added a fog t he 'medium' tag and I can get a density/thickness that looks OK. Now I need it to get thicker with distance however I cannot see a Medium Radius option?? Where do I find that? My scene is real-world scale and even objects 10km from the camera are the same 'fogginess' as objects 1cm from it??
Thanks
Roger

You have to set the medium thickness big as scene visible bounding box.rojharris wrote:Hi Beppe,
