It would be nice if people could add good descriptions of the macro rather than comments like
'I forgot to link the output.. I hope it works now .. ' blah blah
also it would be nice if there wasnt duplication and CAPITALS and allruntogether and in the wrong folder

Would it be possible to add an online rating scheme? perhaps vote off not so good macros? or flag as having an issue?
I foresee a problem with a b-i-g list of macros you cant really tell the quality of until you go through them all...
Another issue is if you download a macro and improve it and want to upload it to replace the existing. Do we really want 999 permutations of Blue steel?....

Otherwise it seems to work well and drag and drop is working fine in my experiments :)

in the livedb view in octane, the materials are ordered by usage count.
eg the most used materials are at the top.
so if one adds a material it will always join at the bottom.

we'd need some more materials (come on guys ;) ) before we can clean it up and reorganize it a bit.
i'd like to recommend that everyone get's to learn how to make macros and use them,
even if you have a nice wood floor material that only uses imagemaps, it's still good for livedb,
you don't need to make complex procedurals alone.

Note that you can't save materials or textures, but only material macros or texture macros.
I understand how to use mat macros; but what is the way to use texture macros?
Do we have to put each image texture in a tex macro before to connect it?

just make a blanco texture macro, give it a name (eg change it's name),
and add whatever is needed inside, and add input pins for parameters if you need them,
and connect the output, and save it to file to test it on some mats best, before you upload it to livedb.

it should point out really simple. just like material macros. the only difference is that material macros fit onto material pins on a mesh node and texture macros fit onto material texture input pins. it's just one level higher in the shading chain.

Hi guys,

As some of you might have read, i'm still sick with pneumonia, although it's nearly finished ;)
once that's over i'll get this thread rolling again and we'll restructure the livedb a bit while shipping the next build which is coming 'soon'.
