Hey all,

I have a scene with a car The car is moving forward thanks to a parent null. I created a volume to create some fog for the headlights to shine through. Since my scene is huge, and volumes are a chore, I have it just large enough to achieve the effect I need.

I also placed the volume in the parent null, and in the C4D viewport it moves along with the car. In the Octane live-viewer, if I "Send scene/restart new render" then the volume appears correctly on the current frame, but if I skip to a new frame, the volume jumps to somewhere other than in front of the car (or disappears altogether). Sometimes if I advance frame by frame it shows up, but if not it only shows up if I resend/restart the render. I added Octane object tags to all of the moving objects in the scene, but so far no success at getting the volume to stick to the parent null.

EDIT:

If I try to render out the sequence, the volume renders, but it's just sitting in space (not attached to the car) and has no movement.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Just add some position keyframe as very small amount of movement to volume object. So it will update. As you may know plugin works as state machine and needs to detect changes. There's a weakness for detection of volume object's updates. Will be improved for next version.
