This kind of "CUDA error 999 on device 0: unknown error " are usually related to hardware or drivers issues. If you are using risers or external boxes try to render your scene disabling the "use for tonemap" option in the plugin options panel, GPUs tab.

Perhaps even one of the GPUs is physically damaged. Test the GPUs one by one to see if you can isolate one of them with problems. If you are using the latest NVIDIA drivers, perhaps a good test could be also downgrading a couple of versions to see if this helps.

Thanks,

There are such strangeness here. The previous version of the plug-led to the fact that when using PMC LW steadily crashes immediately. The current release allows to work in the PMC mode (on all videocards), but it is possible to work in the PT mode if there is a render only on one video card.

I had errors on nodes and one thing I found out which helps is to uninstall all nvidia stuff on that node and reinstall the driver. Important thing is that during the install process system installs drivers for each card one by one. If you have say 6 GPUs in the node it will darken the screen a couple of times for each GPU and then it will pop up in the device manager.

I think if you don't remove the drivers prior to installing new ones this long process doesn't happen and this will not fix it.

With this method I managed to get rid of the errors on that node. There is even software dedicated to completely removing nvidia drivers on the system, you might try that too.

Thanks for advice.
I uninstalled all the drivers, installed new ones. As a result of my work (for display) graphics card Quadro 4000 is no longer determined by the Octane. But the two 780s are now working on the order of magnitude more stable.
But only if I put the number of samples less than 1000. Most likely they just overheat, as Quadro always works at high temperatures, so that the climate inside the case is like in a stove. Although I took various steps to ensure that the inside of the computer was cooled as best as possible.
