hello Otoy,
I was just wondering if your support for paying customers has improved any? Often is the case that the description that is left in support forums by support people, totally misses the point, is grammatically unreadable, or is dotted as "will be implemented"..and never heard of again. Has this improved any lately, any plans of improving customer support?
Octane obviously does not support a broad range of plugins and systems we designers use on a daily basis, XParticle, TFD among some of those. Moving to Redshift or Arnold is looking ever more attractive. Are there plans to ever offer a full render engine version, that supports many of the popular features in use today and as well is not a system that needs to be updated on a weekly basis, which seriously hinders workflow. Any chance of releasing a complete render engine?
If the product was working correctly, then you would not need support. Is that your plan? Or rather to release half finished products and fill the gaps with horrible customer support?
Thanks for all the information and best regards
Germany

Octane+Lightvawe plugin has the best support on the planet yo !
I get custom plugin builds immediately for each bug I find or even a feature I request !
There are new Octane builds available to download approx. every 2 weeks !
What kind of support do you expect ?
Octane works with a wide range of 3D packages via plugin.
Ok, maybe you don't use LW so I don't know about that.
Seriously if I were you I would consider switching to Lightwave

It's 5 AM in the office here. The team, myself included, works 24/7 to support you and all the other customers.
I read through all 5 of your previous posts, 4 of which you posted in a one day, followed by this last one 3 weeks later:
viewtopic.php?p=291542#p291542
The C4D developer asked you for more detailed feedback on your reported issue and you never responded. This was in October. We can't help you if you don't provide meaningful feedback.
Finally, as a rule, this forum isn't a place for rude or demeaning posts, whether its to fellow customers or any of the devs . Consider this a friendly reminder before you post again. Thank you.

Yeah, go LightWave! Juanjo for President!!
Win10Pro || GA-X99-SOC-Champion || i7 5820k w/ H60 || 32GB DDR4 || 3x EVGA RTX 2070 Super Hybrid || EVGA Supernova G2 1300W || Tt Core X9 || LightWave Plug (v4 for old gigs) || Blender E-Cycles
Yes, support is last thing we can complain about Octane, it's one of best and fastest supports, esp. for LW as Boris already mentioned.
Also we have lot of OTOY and Plugin DEVS answering user questions on daily basis which is something you don't see on many apps/other forums 'coz DEVs usually don't communicate with users directly or at all (with few notable exceptions) but for Octane many DEVS actually participate in forums also which is great.
I'm sorry that you have problems with your usage of Octane but it might be more specific case scenario than rule so you might wanna help them with more detailed info/content so they can solve your issues faster.
cheers

Hi, I do not think that the Octane Render is a half finished product... and to notice that some posts are grammatically unreadable is not fair. Feel free to change if other products fulfills your requirements (as with all commercial products). I am only a hobbyist, but I never felt that I spent my money for the wrong tool.

In regards to support, Ill follow up sayinbg the support team is fantastic. Even in the C4D branch, Aoktar has always answered things and questions and works hard to let people know what he can or cant implement and anyways to get around an issue, etc.
Like others have said, its degrading to the Dev team who DO put in the work for constant updates and a supportive staff that listens to its consumers.
The other issue you mentioned was talking about the Renderer itself, and YES, I agree, Octane SINT there yet with the features wed like yet for most uses, mostly within C4D. I feel you on that as a C4D user. But from everything ive read, Itll be about 1-2 months before they start rolling out V. 3.1 with (hopefully) OSL --> which in return should provide more flexibility and control for developers to add more features, etc and for CORE to be updated and pass that stuff down.
As for switching to Arnold or Redshift, have them both. Lighting is attractive on Redshift but its still lacking and is in Alpha-- so that wont be decent until 1-2 months anyways. As for Arnold, Arnold is nice but isnt GPU capable yet and lacks on some post effect features.
So honestly, Im doing the same and just waiting to see what happens within the next few months. Im hoping that the 3.1 update will be the update that makes Octane even better than it is now. And you should do the same my friend.
Dont be too hasty with your words.
~Cheers

Except for rounded edges being a total cluster fck and a flop of a feature ..... 2 years after the feature released.BorisGoreta wrote:Octane+Lightvawe plugin has the best support on the planet yo !

Sorry that is critical to anyone working with CAD and why this render engine isn't used professionally by anyone in our office. Vray is the solution right now because Octane devs cant seem to step up and fix it. Harsh I know, but we pay alot of money for features in software to actually work.
Disappointing. They are too focused on avenues that dont even concern most users only, ninche users interested in VR, Brigade.
Updates every 2 weeks? Where? Maybe once every few months. Meanwhile Vray has nightly builds and address features that dont work asap. They dont continue working on new features and just "forget" old broken features.
