Hi,

It has been discussed before, and possible reasons why, the render queue renders take longer than PV renders. Subdivisons at render time, etc.
I have looked into those things, and in my case am not using render time SubD or levels of details that are higher at render time than in the editor. No additional particles or clones, etc.

Still, renders in the queue are coming out at least 1.5 times longer than in the PV, sometimes twice as long.

Given that, I am having a hard time estimating how long I need to budget to render certain things, as there seems no way to really know how long a frame will take until you render 2-3 in the queue (first one takes longer due to scene send).

Is there anything we can do to get the faster speed of PV renders, in some form of queue so I don't have to sit here and watch for the PV to finish? This may not be an Octane solution. Would deadline allow PV style renders but queued?

I am 100% happy with the way the image looks in the PV, and the time is faster. So really I just want exactly that image and time, but to be able to queue them all up overnight.

Thanks,
Scott

Of course right after I posted, I found https://dlc.niklasrosenstein.com/portfo ... der-queue/

BUT
That doesn't help me for ORC or rendering in locations or machines without that plugin.

Basically I can't tell any visual difference between the image from the PV and the image rendered via the queue, when I lay them one atop the other in comp or in Photoshop.
So, since there is no visual difference in my case, it is frustrating to get that same image via the PV in a shorter time than ORC or the render queue. Means longer wait and/or more credits/cost.

I'm not aware of this kind of issue. Could you mind to share a scene to compare it for PV vs. RQ?

I will try to get something in the morning.
I am sure I have seen posts about this issue previously? Or was that relevant only to older versions?
