Hello, all!
I've been wondering for quite some time, what is the best workflow for realism in reflections. I know what the Falloff mode does, but I'm a little confused by the "Index" value on a glossy material. It seems to give the same effect as a falloff node, in the way that it lets you only see reflections on an object from certain viewing angles.
The way I'm comparing a falloff node to the index of a glossy material is by placing the fall off node on a mixed material, with a Glossy material with an index of 1, plugged into it, and a diffuse material plugged into it as well. Then I would just take the Falloff node and plug that into the amount of the Mix material. Is it better to just use an index value? Or a Falloff node? Also, why would one or the other be better or worse?
Also, I'm using the Cinema 4D version of the Octane Plugin, but everything I'm talking about should hold true to the regular version of Octane.
Thanks so much all for the help! It's really apriciated!
