I'll throw this out, because it's important to know what the market is, though I'm just a tiny piece of it. I'm generally new to 3d graphics. I've played with TG2 for a couple of years and more recently started playing with Carrara. From a modeling point of view, on good days, I can do a vertex object of a box. I've got photoshop and can stack layers on top of each other, so long as I don't get more than 5 of them, more than that and they start to tip over. So, I'm strictly a hobbyist just having fun trying to learn something here and there. I spend money here and there, but I will never own one of the mother-ship programs, nickels and dimes and quarters - My thoughts about octane;

1) I invested 49 bucks knowing I couldn't go wrong
2) The quality of the renders that I see amaze me
3) I wish I could put lights here and there (something to learn and might even be here with 2.3)
4) I'm glad that gpu is fast and here to stay and someday will take over
5) I'm sad that I'm limited by their current amount of memory
6) Someday octane will have it all, volume-metrics, you name it, when it does I hope little guys like me will have been able to go along for the ride investing as necessary a fair amount.
7) Someday someone will start posting more sample files that show how to properly connect some of these nodes together and I'll have a blast standing on the shoulders of someone else.

My current workflow is to arrange things in Carrara, and output bits and pieces and then blend together in photoshop -- so the upcoming alpha channel type features will be very cool to see in Octane.

Anyway, best wishes to the refractive team and everyone else here!!
