Hi there,

I have a problem in a project I am working on currently. There is a netstructur un a shoe. I built the shape with a subdivision surface and made the net by using the opacity channel with a black and white map. That works. But there has to be some displacement in the surface and suddenly a artifacts appear on the laces that I thread through the net. Is there a way to avoid this? I add two pictures to this mail to show, with a simple setup, to show, what I am talking about.

Thanks
Max

Hi Beppe,
nice to hear from you. I read some of your posts so I knew you are the right address! Best whishes from Germany to Italy!
The scene picture I posted is set up very simple. A cylinder and a disk. The opacity map on the disk is a c4d radial gradient. The displacement comes from a c4d noise. The artifact appears turning on the displacement.
I send a picture out of the real project.

Thanks
Max

Hi Max,
cannot say for sure about the real project, but about the cylinder with disk, here is a fast test. As you can see, the artifact is gratly related with displacement resolution:
256x256
256x256
2048x2048
2048x2048
8192x8192
8192x8192
@8k is almost completely gone.
Happy Rendering,

Mille Grazie! I will try it if the current renderings are ready.
