I just picked up a 4th card to slot into my rig, and wondering which pcie slot would be the most optimal for it.
I have 3 1080ti reference / founders cards right now, and I'm adding one 1080ti Hybrid.
Figured I could just ask you guys rather than install it into every slot and see which is best. I figure the top card would be getting the most heat, so maybe that's the slot to place it in. Or would it be better to put it in one of the middle slots? Anyone go through this already?
With a custom fan curve I'm getting temps just over 70 degrees with the 3 cards overclocked. Bottom card is actually usually only hitting ~67.
1 hybrid card with 4GPU. Best Position?

I ended up going in the first slot. So far so good I think. I figure, heat rises, so pop it up top and make it my primary GPU.
The two middle cards are hitting about 75 degrees max while working, with a slight overclock and custom fan curve. Not too bad. And the bottom card is rarely topping out over 70. Waaaay better than my 980ti's.
