Hey there,

I was wondering if anybody worked out what material is best used to deliver great results in real hair situations.
I want that nice backlit effect if possible and let it behave like real hair.
Also I wonder if it is possible to somehow possible to get the same functionality as in c4d native hair material.
I mean you can let the hair look at the texture beneath for the colour information... this all would be of great help!

Thanks

Hi nickyc,
you can use a mix material with diffuse and glossy, but I prefer to use only one specular material, it gives more like to the hairs:

You can get the color information by placing your texture in the diffuse pin (for diffuse and glossy), and in the transmission pin (for specular):

Happy hair rendering,

Thanks, Beppe! Very usefull, what about if light comes from the back to give that nice backlight effect?
Is there a workflow for that situation!

Thanks!

Hi Nick,
specular material or diffuse with transmission are perfect for this kind of situation:
