So I've been waiting patiently for EVGA to release their Hybrid 1080ti as a plug and play unit, and it appears that's not going to happen unless I buy the Hybrid kit separately.

I have 2x 1080's currently and thought I might aswell get the 1080ti for my next 2 cards given the pricepoint but not too keen on installing the hybrid kit (I am aware of the VRAM difference)

MSI however have released their Hybrid equivalent:

Accepting my cards will look different, would I have any problems doing this or is it comparing apples to apples? Also would it be best to stick with 1080's and keep all my cards EXACTLY the same?

Source of them not going to release the 1080 Ti? With the 1080 launch it took them a fair while to even show off the hybrid card models, let alone make them available for sale.

I'm currently waiting for EVGA GTX 1080 Ti hybrid cards too

Yeah Mike, I think EVGA will absolutely have them, and probably before long. All their Hybrids seem to fly off the shelves, so not doing 1080Ti Hybrids would be quite retarded indeed...

Unfortunately I don't have a source, just speculation and lack of any news regarding it. I did however contact support and they were unsure and couldn't provide any insight. I feel they are pushing the other products? (http://www.evga.com/products/productlis ... TX+1080+Ti)

Do they usually wait a good while before releasing the Hybrid version? You'd think they'd be on it especially after offering the Hybrid kit addon, it should be a pretty easy task for them to provide it as a full unit? (http://www.evga.com/products/product.as ... HY-5388-B1)

By waiting just a little like this, they prolly sell more Founders etc and more kits, before releasing full hybrids...

Well mike, I both have EVGA GTX 980 Ti hybrids and EVGA GTX 1080 hybrids and in both cases I had to wait a long long time before EVGA even announced.... so just be patient. I'm sure they will come... and yes it's most likely because they want to push the other products! Those hybrids are going to be sold out immediately for sure... guess I'll be racing with you guys on the orders

Sounds like most of you have a firm preference for EVGA over MSI. Any reason to steer clear of the MSI version of the hybrid?

EVGA gives the option of 3 years (!!!) extra warranty for just 20 bucks... (you can buy this when you enter your cards serial numbers on the website)

Yeah thought so! It makes sense from a business standpoint I guess, sucks for us!

Haha sure will! Are you going for 2 cards to replace the 980tis?

For me it's that I already have 2 EVGA Hybrids and prefer them to match. But when I was researching for my build EVGA was blatantly the elitist brand in most communities. Also, the build quality of my Hybrid 1080s are brilliant and my temps barely go above 40/50 on full load.

MSI hybrids are probably excellent. But for me personally, every last dang EVGA product I have ever owned has been nothing short of wonderful... thus, I am what you might call an EVGA-guy... Their excellence has been rewarded with some serious brand loyalty with me... until they eff it up and one of their hybrids takes a piss in my workstation, or my PSU starts squealing like a stuck pig....

Yo Mikey, you should slap an If at the beginning of the title of this thread, so folks don't call it fake news or alternative facts...
