Hi guys, I could really do with some advice if possible.
I have a mesh from zbrush which is high geometry and even decimating it will kill modo so I am using a displacement map. The map works in the modo render and in vray, you can notice the holes where the eyes should be but when I render it in octane there is displacement but of little effect. I didn't play with any vray setting or add a vray material i just set the displacement distance in modo to 1m which is a normal workflow coming from zbrush. I have set up octane and adjusted the power of the map but still it doesn't give me the detail i get from vray or modo.
I looked around the forums and I found someone talking about octane and modo displacement so I tried changing the kernel settings and the octane preference settings the way they mentioned i.e. - modo render cache on/off and octane - enable/disable poly displacement and still it won't budge.
I would really like to use octane for this one as I only just bought it and I want to use it in my workflow.
Thank you to any guidance or advice, it will help immensely for future projects.
Gregg
Modo zbrush octane displacement map issue.

May I suggest trying with the new Octane 3.06 build of the plugin (pre-release available at viewtopic.php?f=34&t=55078&p=306464#p306464), since Octane 3.06 contains some displacement mapping improvements. Also be aware that very long, thin triangles with displacement may cause artifacts in Octane.

I will do the OSX build once the release is ready. I am aware of an issue with Octane 3.06 TEST 2, so it will need to wait until TEST 3.I am on OSX Mate. When will this build be available?

Hi Raf. Very long, thin polygons can create displacement artifacts. Have you tried the latest 3.06 build? It contains some displacement mapping improvements.

Hello Paul! Long time no see!
Yeah, this test has been generated on V 3.06 test 2.
The polygon spacing is pretty god(a la zremesher) it shouldn't be there because of weird ration on polygon's lenght.
Any ideas on this? it seems like a core problem and not a plugin issue.
Cheers!

Raf - I suggest you post an ORBX demonstrating the problem to the Octane Standalone 3.06 TEST 4 thread, where the Otoy devs can take a closer look.Any ideas on this? it seems like a core problem and not a plugin issue.
