Hi,

Sorry my bad english.

Well, I created a simple scene in Softimage 2011 SP1, a plane and asphere.
I assign a materials: lambert and phong and I added a images.
I create the projections, planar XZ and a sphere projection.

In Softimage XSI is all ok, I made a render region and I see the textures ok, BUT I export to Octane (Render frame) I not see the textures. Only the material, the shaders. Why?

Is a very simple and a easy process, but I dont have textures in Octane.
Please, help me.

Only the phong shader is supported by the exporter.
Textures works only the first time you export the scene to Octane.
The change of materials after the first export have no effect in Octane because Octane then load his own scenefile.
If you wish to bypass it, check the overwrite existing scene option on.
The uv´s are ever exported, so if you have trouble, you can simple load the texture in Octane and save your scene.

A rule for materials:
Octane -> Softimage
Diffuse -> Phong (Specular Decay = 0 or Specular Color = black)
Specular -> Phong (Index Of Refraction > 1 and Transparancy Color > black)
Glossy -> Phong (All other possible options)

Emitter -> constant(in the future and if it works)

Maybe i can make a own simple shadercompound for that all.

Hey guys,

Guys I'm new here and I need a help please,
I can not import my textures in octane I can only put them
inside the octane, the problem is that I want to put a scene with multiple objects.

Will I have to import an image at a time for each object inside octane?

The material works fine, but the texture don´t.

Can you help me please?

Thanks!!

Here it works.
First, you should create a new project.
Second, when the project already exists, then use the checkbox "overwrite existing"
Third, textures only works with a phong shader on diffuse, specular, reflectivity and transparancy.
Fourth, the texture should be in a format, that Octane can read.

A hint, if you change a material in Octane, it will be not saved.
For that, use material macros to solve the problem.
I think that will fixed in the next release.

Hope that helps...

Hi Face, thanks for your attention

I´m doing exactly as you said but only phong properties such as diffuse, reflection and etc... seems to be working fine.

The image format of the textures are .jpeg I can only apply them to my objects
directly from octane, then it works fine.

But from softimage it doesn´t work.

Any chances to have something to do with the path of my images location? I pick the textures from the pictures folder of softimage project.

sorry for my bad english,

and thanks again for your help

Hm, maybe you have two uv-sets?
