Tried three different videodrivers. From 373.06 to the latest one. Doesn't help.
What else can be done?

Try using Octane 3.06 test 3 both standalone and c4d plugin.
They have switched to CUDA 8 and fixed a lot of errors.
Hope it works.

I can see the standalone version on this board, but where can I download Cinema4d version?
I can see only stable versions on downloads section. The last is 3.05.3. And no links on board.

Hi I'm also experiencing the same issue, I've tried the latest beta release and the same issue, I also getting the same error in the standalone renderer. This happens when i try and render a material from the Live DB as well. is this an issue with the card rather than Octane?
Thanks
Giz
Thanks

Hi Giz,
if you are having issues with download livedb materials, in general, is because the material is old, and something is changed in the node system, eg the absortion or scattering node.
What kind of material are you looking for exactly?
Could you share the name of the material that is giving you issues?

Hi beppe, I was just using the materials from the live DB as an example, basically in Cinema or Octane Standalone every time i try to render something I get part way through a single frame before a time out and either Cuda error 700 or Cuda error 719 on device 0: unspecified launch failure. so in the octane standalone when trying to render "Chestnut Rushmore" material I get the following error in the log:
CUDA error 700 on device 0: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> failed to bind device to current thread
device 0: failed to initialize resources
device 0: failed to recover - giving up and switching device to failed
In Cinema when using the live viewer with just a single cube, I get the following error:
CUDA error 700 on device 0: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> failed to bind device to current thread
device 0: failed to initialize resources
device 0: failed to recover - giving up and switching device to failed
device 0: data texture 4 was not initialized

I don't think this has anything to do with materials, I was just trying to have something in the standalone version of octane. I'm trying to see if it's octane or the card that has the problem.

Hi Giz,
this is very weird, since Chestnut Rushmore is a simple Glossy materials with textures: Probably there is something wrong in your hw and sw setup. My suggestion is to perform a clean installation of the nvidia drivers, maybe one version before of what you have installed.
What are the other specs of your machine?

So.
I was not not able to try latest 3.06 version, because Cinema 4D doesn't see the plugin (the version on C4D is not latest, and I can't update it). And we don't know how to work in standalone.
But we have another PC with exact same videocard (GTX 1080), same driver and same Octane version. The only difference is Windows 7 instead Windows 10.
And there are no errors on this second PC.
So maybe it's not about the Octane version? What else can I try?
