now that's strange & honestly I do not see this being important at all considering the face it would be used with less than 1% users..- if You need anything like this it's long long ago integrated in other tools..but what render engine has to do with this I'm not sure.

I don't think its useful for many users as well. I would suggest doing this in Post. Just make a Light Pass for your Emitter convert it to Grayscale and remap the image with a gradient.
This can be done with a 3D lut. So if Octane Imager (IceFx) ever supports using 3D luts this would be possibile also.
In photography it's known as a false color view so it's not a feature, it's a technique. I believe that in some form usually it's available on monitors used in movie production by directors of photography. It's probably related to the Ansel Adams zone system. It's a way of "seeing" stops of exposure.

So if a director says "I want that a stop brighter than the background", this is one way of showing them that it is.
