Hi Ahmet,
could you or someone who knows explain why materials are generated so often?
In my fairly big scene with a lot of materials the generation process starts over quasi after every change in NE or each render in PV and takes a lot of time.
I am using the latest TEST 3 release which seems to be faster due to the new caching but I wanted to ask if this is the normal behavior.
Thanks
Ron
Generate materials: why so often?

Yes! It's a message when a material convert done. Material previews, opengl texture generations or any material changes will cause this. When you edit anythings in NE, it will cause recreation of materials for Octane. So you'll see this message. Or when you send a scene to render or if you switch takes with material changes. This processes are similar in C4D but i just don't hide these from users. And as you notified on test3 this should be much faster because it will not reload textures.

Good to know that this is the normal behavior even if it's a bit frustrating ...

No - not the messages!
The fact that all the materials are generated again and again even if they have been generated before. If I start rendering in PV all materials are generated. After finishing this render and change to viewport from picture manager the generating process starts again while C4D gets stuck (no camera move, no mat selection or anything else). That's frustrating.

This how C4D works in background. Just you don't see this C4D materials but happens. Plugin use C4D's workflow and C4D decides when it needs updates.Ron wrote:No - not the messages!
