The best setup for a pro user is a cheap quadro card (the 4000 or even less),
for the better drivers it has for DCC apps (max, maya, opengl, etc...)

And a Geforce GTX400 or more in 2nd slot(s) for octane power

Wouldn't you be limited to the memory available on the second card and waste about £2k for better drivers?

with this scheme you get the quadro and it's drivers for good non-handicapped performance in maya and max, for modeling,
and the GTX400 offers the same power as the quadro 6000 card for probably 1/10th of it's price, for octane render.

Confused! What would be a best case, hi performance solution for a (4) pci 16x lane mobo (PC) that you want to maximize your 3D application while maintaining a max from Octane. Render frames to be used in a scene/sequence in Final cut pro. Have not tried Octane yet. Looks very promising.
