It's not a plugin related issue. That's not clear to me why you think that's an octane issue. It's clearly happening after doing render by standard renderer. See image.proundkontra wrote:So there is no other, more comfortable way to it? Because if you not only write images throug the plugin but also through the c4d save dialog you have to change names allways on two places.aoktar wrote:Well thanks. I could reproduce the issue. My first idea it's not about plugin than a C4D issue. I don't write any images from plugin else of saving the pass images.
Especialy if you have many takes with different rendersettings you end up changing a lot of stuff every time you versioning up.
To me it would be a huge timesaver.
Render Queue saves allways two files

Just to doublecheck that I understand, here: there is indeed no workaround on this? I understand that it's not an Octane issue per se, though if perhaps we could use the built-in multipass saving system then we wouldn't have this issue, right?
Thanks,
Justin
Thanks,

I guess so, have to manually delete the files lolcrowellster wrote:Just to doublecheck that I understand, here: there is indeed no workaround on this? I have a workaround for you.
Create a folder. I call it "dump".
Save your octane renders to your project folder as set in "render passes" tab as you do already.
but
ENABLE native C4D saver and direct it to this "dump" folder.
Now you save two images. One from Octane saver and another from C4D saver.
After rendering finishes, just go to dump folder, Ctrl+A and 'del'.
If you render multiple projects via Render Queue, in the end you'll just have to clean this "dump" folder without messing around in the cinema files folder.
Easy and fast way.
Peace!

I have the exact same issue and is really annoying.
It happens only if u use RENDER QUEUE from c4d, thats whats not clear in ur description am i correct?
Steps to reproduce:
- Setup ur octane render settings in RENDER PASSES, where to save etc etc. (see image 1)
- Completely disable the SAVE in c4d render settings. (see image 1)
- Add to render queue the scene. (see image 2)
- Render queue doesnt start unless u specify a location and there is the extra files that are not needed. (see image 3)
Therefore octane needs somehow to take over render queue settings.
Pls a solution is required, its a very bad workflow.
thanks

Read my above post!
You wan't avoid this. And it's not the Octane nor C4D issue. It's not an issue at all!
Just follow my steps to have clean project folder.
I do it all the time. And what you need in the end is just cleaning the "dump" folder (or however you call it).
