We could have an additional Blend angle control to the box projection only for cases like this, but having the Triplanar Texture as a mixer is very useful too.manalokos wrote:Triplanar should be a projection mode, as it is it does not help with anything if you don't have a UVW map in your geometry... couldn't you just add a Blend angle to the Box projection?
It is nice to have it as a texture mixer, but the real point is not to mix different textures... it is to avoid seams in textures.

Great !
Didn't find anything problematic for now.
Impressive how in some scenes the samples per second increases while converging thanks to AS
The displacement map filter is a great addition, very useful.
Any chance to avoid restarting the rendering when changing the AS settings ?

There is some nice stuff in this update. Thank you!
I was wondering if you would consider an additional "simplified" triplanar texture. Right now you need to set up 3/6 image nodes with the correct projection, then plug those into the triplanar node. If I have a folder full of textures I want to quickly try out on my mesh, I have to click the load button on 3/6 different rgb image nodes and browse for the image 3/6 times.
I basically need box mapping, with blending to remove the seams. Maybe it could be a new projection type for images too?
In v-ray the triplanar texture is much easier to use. I just plug 1 texture in, and the triplanar controls everything else (scale, blend, offset, rotation). If I want more control, it also allows separate textures as an option.

Marcus, I want to thank you and the team, so very, very much, for making my DOF Pano/Spherical wish come true!!! I am giddy like a little schoolgirl!
This is a niche need, but you guys came through, with great aplomb, and I will be eternally grateful. For anyone not familiar with this seemingly strange request, I will be using this extensively for WebGL projects that use spherical maps and orbiting camera. Maybe others will find uses for this in VR projects that haven't been discovered yet... That is my hope - that this was not just for me alone...
And adaptive sampling is...
You guys effing rock!

You're not the only one happy / excited about this. I think it will now allow CGI panoramas of macro objects or products where background clarity would be a distraction. This type of pano is harder to achieve with the real world lenses typically used for panoramic photography due to their wide DOF.FrankPooleFloating wrote: That is my hope - that this was not just for me alone...

Not sure if other met this issue but when adding an obj mesh the specular texture is not added anymore, RGB color is created instead.
Edit : And the IOR is set to 1 (if I'm right it was set to 1.3 before)

thanks Otoy guys! it's a breakthrough!!! adaptive sampling very comfortable, great feature! now there is a confidence that the rendering will stop when I need to.) I will test further with the materials.
with adaptive sampling without adaptive sampling time difference twice! and I can make it even faster!!

I think we should be comparing images that have cooked for the same amount of time.
