I believe I have found some sort of memory leak in octane/blender whenever attempting to render a scene using textures packed into .blend files.

The easiest way to reproduce this is to add a few high-res textures into your scene, then go to file>external data>pack all into .blend and start rendering a few frames.
The memory usage by Blender maxes out on my system in just a few minutes, and doesn't go back to normal until I restart Blender.
The memory behaves just fine if I unpack all textures back into a single folder again (or keep them in their respective external paths).

I would really like to be able to render textures stored inside the .blend files however, since I often append materials to my scenes that no longer reference any external files.
