Hello, dear OTOY Team =) As we know in Vray 3.5 they added AlSurface shader with which we can create an amazing skin shader or any translucence material in a few seconds. It is very easy shader in use and as I know, it is OpenSource and any render team can add it in their renders.
From this I have the following question - Do you plan to add this shader in the new Octane realizes? =) Or do you plan to create an another amazing skin shader which will be better then Arnold, Redshift and Vray =))
Best regards, Andrew.

We will be testing an Octane implementation of AlShaders in 3.1 through OSL (why this feature is important!)
The OSL port of ALShaders is actively supported by the original developer:

3.1 OSL is working well enough to migrate Vray OSL procedurals in our first internal test build.

We have a some more OSL features we need to hook up in Octane before we can start testing more advanced OSL packages, but we're making good progress.

I've reviewed the sources, only a small part has been ported to OSL. The good news is most of it is already expressed in the Octane nodes we have. We will work on implementing the remaining elements/nodes in there, including exposing the type of SSS used in ALSurface.
I was wondering: after 1 year, is alSurface ready to be implemented with Octane? Or is it low priority feature now?
Cheers!
Cheers!
