Hello all, prices have dropped for gtx 980 ti. Im thinkin of grabbing 5 used ones for 4 to 500 canadian dollars, and then watercooling them so I can fit all 5 on my motherboard.
But as for octane benchmark results, it looks like running stock vs stock, the 980ti is very close to the 1080??? is this true?? I saw results for a 1080 posted somewhere here on forum.

At work, my main machine has 2x1080 founders and the other machine has 4x980ti Classified. The 980ti machine runs almost exactly twice as fast in all the scenes I was rendering last week.

yep. in my situation, the 980ti and the 1080 are pretty much the same speed. When comparing the two, keep in mind the VRAM difference, and also, I don't think the Octane is fully optimized for Pascal cards, so there could be some speed increase (don't quote me 100% on that though, wait for somebody to verify that, if it's going to factor into your decision)

seems to be that the 980(ti) are getting rare and prices are about the same as 1080

rappet is right. The pickens are slim for 980Ti Hybrids on eBay. There's a couple here and there, but not enough to make it competitive between sellers. Low $400s is about the best one can hope for currently, for a used 980Ti Hybrid.

980Ti runs much hotter, 250W compared to 180W and this is quite noticable even on touch.
