Octane Object Tag/Display Tag issue

I can't get either the Octane object tag or Cinema 4d display tag to work correctly. I am using it to have some objects coming from behind the camera "disappear" over 15 frames. For whatever reason at random frames all the objects that have an object tag and that are on the same Layer ID all fade randomly for a few frames. I should also mention that these objects are all instances. Is there another way I can make them disappear/fade? These objects are quite heavy so I would prefer to keep them as instances. In theory I know I can use a material but these objects have multiple materials on them and there is a total of 20 objects that disappear/fade at different times so it would be a real hassle.
If you put a sample scene I'll check that. Thx

I just had to uncheck render instances". My bad!
