Hey guys,
I've run into to some issues with octane for C4D. Whenever I use my GTX1080 with my 3 980tis my renders crash. It works fine with the gtx 1080 turned off. On the occasion, the computer will blue screen and I'll get the error message - VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE. I've updated all the drivers and I'm on the latest octane versions.
It renders about 4 frames then the screen crashes and pops back on. Then the picture viewer pushes out 2 of the same frames instantly.
The render log comes up with hundreds of the same errors:

Thanks for sending that across Beppe.
After reading through the post you sent... I changed the TDR timeout to 10 and 30 seconds using nvidia nsight. But I still have had no luck. The scenes are very small and I'm not using any displacement so I have ruled that out.
When it crashes I have to restart to see the gtx1080 in octane and in the nvidia control panel. If I turn off the 1080 in the render settings the computer renders without a problem. I have a 1500w PSU power 4 cards I figure that shouldn't be the issue.
Could it possibly be a faulty card or the latest octane release?
When I get the chance next I will install an older version of octane to see if I have the same issue.

Hi jackprenc,
what about your motherboard and PCI connections?
Did you updated the bios?

Hey Beppe,
So it turns out the PCI connection on my motherboard was broken. So the GPU was not connected properly. I have connected the GPU back in and it's working fine. I'll be sending it off for warrranty. Just thought I'd check in and let you know that in my case, the cuda error 999 was most likely due to information between the GPU and motherboard were getting lost.
