Hey guys/girls,
I want to randomize a JPEG sequence in a Cloner, is that possible?
For example having a bunch of TVs with one material on the object (JPEG sequence driving the diffuse channel for example) , spread around with a Cloner,
then having each TV show a different part of that sequence...I can't figure it out...
Only way I could do it now is making many different materials with different JPEG sequences...not fun.
Many thanks :)

Elad.

I think you're stuck with the unfun. Or a random effector on the cloner?

The random/step effect work only on changes made on the actual object (like position/rotation/etc)...
The material settings don't catch :'\

Sad because it's probably such an easy function...in Element 3D they have it..and it solves so many problems..
Even in Trapcode particular :)

Looks like a good 'feature request'.

Ahmet made this reply when I asked him about your issue: "It cannot be used to change time on image sequences. But it should be working with octane gradients. Add some images under gradient and randomtex to input. I had idea for adding a button in gradient that will create multi images." So you might try something using Octane Gradients.

If people know standalone and features that would help to understand why somethings are hard or not possible. Or got the logic behind of some setups. Anyway here is a trial for doing the effects. I hope it helps. Btw just notified that gradient has a limit with max 32 slots on textures. So it's not a good way to do what you want. I'm extending it to 64 slots right now. But still not cool for long animations.
