I hope there'll be some panel to turn off check for updates etc.
Tried to find the answer in other forums without success, so:
I don't understand, why Octane needs uninterrupted connection?
Take laptop with cell-internet for instance. Mostly it costs money per traffic or worse per minute and may get interrupted depending on location.
I doubt that translating license from one computer to another to use it illegaly on multiple machines could get unnoticed. The server could detect users with multiple start pattern automatically.
Also there might be a few KB service that operates license instead of Octane checking for it every time and would at least partially free those without stable connection.
Sure there should be some complications I'm not aware of since it is the way it is right now, but everyone likes to have reliable workstation when it's about time and money. And internet is the source of opposite. Maybe those complications could be explained and "sticked" somewhere.

I think Radiance said that once Octane is running you only need the live connection for the livedb (materials online) and you could work fine even if your connection was lost, and as far as I've been able to test it 2.3 is as good as promised, so I can hardly imagine what's coming next before it's final. Sure, it might need some polishing here and there, but I think the step foward is really promising.
