It's speed enough, picture getting useful after 20 minutes at 4000x2000, but you have to make some noise reduction..mostly fireflies.

even your tests look good, I hate you,
Just kidding of course, having the ability to make light is great, now I understand how god felt... all bored, nothing to play with... hey let's try adding some lights... (unluckly for us he used other slow and pretty trashy software, and that's what we got, if he just would have thought of GPU rendering... pffffff...)

nice scene like usual.
one thing i am not sure about is : the brightness of the light is in no relation with the overall brightness of the scene
the lamp is far to bright. i am not criticising your work, i have the same problem with my interior shots.
i couldnt find the wright settings to make a lamp look realistic.
is this a octane related thing ?

Windows 7 , 64 b / GTX 590 / Archicad 15 , 64 b / Cinema 4D R 13 studio , 64b /Intel(R)Core(TM)Extreme3,20Ghz /always latest Octane.
For it to look realistic you have to put a smaller emitter inside a sphere with transparent material, like frosted glass etc. You never see a emitter this big in real life for interiors.

Yes guys, you'r absolutely right, but for now without MLT, little light sources are completely inefficient. I did try and model the lamp bulb and put it into action, but the result after 1 hour was unusable, so I had to make the outside part of the lamps the lightsource, on both lamps - over the table one, and the floor one...
Trying to make the outside part of the lamp transmissive, did make things worst...
As for the modeling and making things proper, here is a scene I build for test I made long ago with light sources.. it's a different engine - unbiased, but you can see the power of MLT here , so once Octane have MLT expect results like those , maybe even better...
The light sources here are the wires inside the light bulbs and a weak ambient light..
