Hi,
watching the Otoy ORBX examples in Gear VR i was wondering if there is a Beta version available for creating own examples ? So far the Octane renderer i have downloaded for Blender does not have this feature as it seems.

Frank

Hi Frank1000,
I'm not a blender user, but in general, you only need to set your camera in Panoramic Cubemap mode, set the stereo output to Side by side 18.432x1.536 pixels and render, that's it. Unfortunately the demo has a resolution limitation, but you could try with the new subscription version for one month for testing it without limitations:

Hey Beppe,
thx for reply. K i have taken the classroom scene and set the camera Panoramic cubemap, resolution 100 600 is fine, i can scale up for basic testing. Stereo to side by side.

Not sure about the result, its not a cubemap yet

Or is it saving the cubemap somwhere else than in the project root ?

Also, when i have the cubemap, how do i get it to Gear VR to watch ?

Regards,
Frank

... ok here is another good reference, also regarding watching in Gear VR.

The render output seems fine first, but when drop into ORBX folder on Gear VR its not creating a VR image. it looks if all cube pics are vertically pulled infinitely long.

... do i need to add certain settings somewhere, like display setting or so, to make the file display right in Gear VR ? Right now the image is pulled infinitely in length vertically when i watch it on Gear VR from within the ORBX browser

Hi Frank1000,
with the demo version is not posdible to render VR contents due to the resolution limitation.
An alternative could be to start an OctaneRender™ Subscription license with 20$ monthly fee to bypass the demo restrictions:
