another v3 plugin activation problem

hi, i cannot activate the plugin on my laptop

i am running v3 standalone on my laptop and able to activate it. but now deactivated to see if I can start the plugin while standalone is deactivated - I cannot

no other instances are running elsewhere

i have deactivated v2 standalone on my main pc (not laptop)

modo plugin is uninstalled on my main pc (not laptop)

when I try to activate the plugin - i get a message " YOUR LICENSE WAS DEACTIVATED BUT COULD NOT FIND ANOTHER ONE AVAILABLE" - not very clear imo.

when i go to my license page - the DEACTIVATE button is greyed out. - so I cannot manuallly do it from here.

the UNLOCK button is not clear to me.... if this will actually deactivate my plugin or my standalone or both. but then I loose an unlock ??? which is weird. -

I cannot fine anything clear about this. so please if someone can assist.

This is a sign your plugin license is still in use elsewhere, you should get a longer message telling you the name of the host where it is actually being used. Could you please share a screenshot of the full error?

Are you sure you are checking your plugin license and not the standalone? Also, are you sure your license is right for your version of Octane (subscription vs regular).

This button will unlock JUST the license is attached to, nothing else.

If are unsure what licenses are currently used in your machine and you wish to deactivate all without using the Unlock button, which is meant for emergency cases only, I recommend you using the sign out functionality from standalone under File > Account... > Sign out.

Please let me know if there's anything that doesn't make sense and how it goes.

ok I see the greyed out deactivate is the full, and the unlock is the plugin..

the thing is, nothing is running eslewhere. i started 4 versions of modo 701-10 and octane plugin does not load on any on my main pc. I had uninstalled v2 plugin a long time ago because it was messing my scenes sometimes and just now going back with plugin v3. - is it possible because I removed the plugin /uninstall without deactivate, its stuck in lalaland ?

i am able to sign in through the plugin on v3 on y laptop

but I then get this. - the date earlier was showing 2014 - now its showing today.

Have you tried unlocking the plugin by pressing that button?

I am not too sure, what I can see in our database is that your only MODO license is bound to a different machine that is not the one you are using standalone with.

Have you tried signing out as I said on both machines?

Well, that date glitch is interesting, do you mean that the date in the message corresponded to 2014?

ok, ah i think i remember now that because of the issues I was having I tested on my son's pc which had win 8 at the time ( i was running on vista) but I cant recall for sure. - i'll go check now.

and yes the date was showing 2014 earlier and not todays date.

nope - not on my sons machine. - is it possible to tell me what pc it's on ?

i am really boggled by this !

and no i dont want to unlock if i dont have to.

btw the standalone was activated on my laptop and is working fine. - so just wondering... dont I need the standalone for modo plugin to work ? so if the standalone can be activated, shouldn't the modo plugin piggyback off the standalone license ?

You do need to unlock it, the only effect of that is to release the license in case it's in use on a machine you either don't have access to or do not remember where was used for the last time so don't be afraid

If you run out of unlocks you may request a reset which is usually just fine unless there are signs of license abuse.

i have access to all the pc's in my house. it's just nowhere installed that i can see. i think there is a glitch on your side.

if you could tell me the pc mac addr. but if you cant i understand. - can you tell me at least if it;s v2 thats stuck or v3 (which I doubt)

if it's 2 then I am sure its stuck because I removed the plugin without deactivate!

Yes, that's the latest license activation date so nothing to worry about.

I don't have access to the MAC that license was activated for the last time but it was for sure an old v2 plugin, so you may be right about uninstalling it without deactivating.

Standalone is working as you have one standalone license available, however there's no MODO license available at the moment and you need both to activate the plugin.

The only way for you to use it is by unlocking it via the website. Please do that and let me know how it goes.
