Hi,

I use Houdini to create particles and want to export them to OR Standalone via an ABC file. It works ok, but the spheres representing the particles/points are really big. So, my question is, how can I scale them - either in OR Standalone or Houdini!? Anyone an  ?

Best wishes,
Thomas

Hi tschwenke,
non an Houdini user sorry, but Standalone searches the particle dimensions in the Alembic file, if the information is not found, the particle sphere has a default value of 1.0, so I guess you have to search the solution in the Houdini alembic export option

Hi,

Thanks for your post.

If I know what channel/attribute (scale, size, radius?) OR Standalone is looking for, I could bring in this attribute into my ABC file, but I have no clue what OR Standalone is looking for :(

Best wishes,
Thomas

There's no user-defined channel for the particle size. This is part of the standard channels for points in Alembic files (like the normals channel in meshes), and Octane uses that standard to import and export particle sizes.

If you attach a small Alembic file I can have a look, but since the particle size is a standard channel, I don't think Houdini is exporting it at all.
