That mean we can import VDB file in DAZ STudio? How to use it?face_off wrote:Attached is a highly experimental release which tries to fix the problem reported above by Rajib. I found it worked well when loading new scenes, but I got mixed results when Merging scenes.
3.5.0.30
- Compiled with Octane 3.05
- Added support for Instances Groups - so UltraScatter and Voxelizer scenes should now work
- Fixed issue where loading or merging a scene whilst the current scene is rendering would cause the Octane Viewport to step rendering in some situations - requiring a DAZStudio restart

A reasonably important issue has been reported on this build - so I have removed the download link. Hopefully I will have a solution and a new build in the next day or two.3.5.0.30

There is no means to import VDB files into the plugin. Instead, you can export from the plugin to OCS and load into Octane Standalone and add VDB files there. That mean we can import VDB file in DAZ STudio? How to use it?
Thanks Rajib - I will investigate. While testing the experiential release (3.5.0.30) I have found another issue that has been there before in all the release. It is something to do with the local or world transform I think.

Hi Paul,
Have found a serious bug in the 3.5.0.30 experimental version. I am loosing all Rendersettings, Environment settings and Octane material previously saved with the scenes if I double click on any previously saved materials presets under Daz with the Octane materials set. When I double click on them (under the Content Library pane) to load the materials, the plugin is closing the Octane Viewport (if open) and not only the Octane materials is not getting loaded (it defaults to the Daz materials), but it is again resetting the Render Settings and Environment settings changes I had done on the scene.
To repeat the issue:
1. Create a scene and put a cube in it.
2. Go to Rendersettings tab and change some of the values.
3. Go to Environment tab and changes some of the values.
4. Go to Materials tab and apply any Octane material from the Live DB to the cube.
5. Use File->Save As->Material(s) preset to save the cube material.
6. Using Content Library pane, go to the material preset folder and double click on the material present you saved in step 5 to apply it again on the cube.
If the Octane viewport was open it will close, you will see the values in the Rendersettings and Environment tabs have reset to the default value. Also in the Materials tab, the Octane materials that you saved and applied on the cube are no longer there and the cube has the Daz material.
Regards,
Rajib

Thanks Rajib - yes, I found that too and removed the downloaded link (see me msg above). I think I have found a solution - but still testing.

Should any of the RedSpec-SSS-using folks out there have downloaded the experimental build, we strongly advise to not use it with our shaders.
The error described above by rajib, pretty much causes the shaders to not function correctly.
Please roll back to the last TEST build in order to correctly use the shaders again - Thanks.

Live DB material materials can not be partially loaded!
Some materials can not be loaded from the LiveServer, then the load window remains open and you can do nothing more - neither close the window nor save the scene. The only way to strangle the program in the task manager. If you have not stored there before all work is gone!
It would be great if you could close this window or fix the defective materials. ("Metal Dirt" is a material that does not work, but there are several)

Confirmed. This has happened to me a couple of times too. Is canceling the liveDB loading process theoretically possible? Perhaps Paul can devise a workaround...Live DP material materials can not be partially loaded!

Hi Paul,
I just noticed that most of the latest product on Daz support iRay and their material most of the time use the metallicity/roughness maps.
Usually there are a few maps: metallicity map, diffuse, glossy, roughness and normal.
Now, the Octane plug-in doesn't seems able to convert this kind of shader and this is a really huge problem since I need to do it all by hand and yeah, it's super time consuming.
Do you plan to improve the material/shader conversion in order to get a good results in octane without the need to do it all by hand?
