Hello guys,
i'm having issues mastering the linear workflow between c4d octane and photoshop
i follow this steps but when i open my file in photoshop, i still can't see the same colors of the pw nor the lw
- set my document to linear workflow with ctrl+d (input color profile srgb)
- in the octane settings, camera images i put linear response, gamma 2.2
- in the render settings, octane, i put render buffer type to float linear
- export as a 32 bit exr
- open it in photoshop, convert to 16 and under exposure and gamma i put 1 in the gamma field
- the color profile is always srgb
then the colors are inexacts and washed out, i know i am missing something, what am i doing wrong? any clues?
thanks

You don't need to play with scene color profile.
Or with camera imager settings.
what do you talk about? Main buffer or render passes? What's the reason of using linear workflow?

Hi Aoktar,
i'm talking about main buffer
i'm using linear workflow because octane is supposed to work with it, it says that on the manual and everywhere.
to be honest i don't even care, i just want to see exactly the same thing i see in the lw or pw when i open my render in photoshop, and i still didn't find a workflow that respects just that
thanks

See image. Making gamma=2.2 and linear is just for monitoring purposes. It doesn't affects output if you select "Linear buffer" in render settings.cristiangiro wrote:Hi Aoktar,

what are the steps to follow (and which don't) to see the same thing from the beginning to the end?
thanks

i don't know what should we be talking about, i just asked a way to see my render in photoshop as the one i see in the picture viewer
i'll try to follow the notes you've put in the image, even if it's already what i am doing, except that i save in open exr and not tiff

The latest version of photoshop is a massive bug fest. You'll have to go into the color settings in PS and disable color management. Go to their forums and search aggiechase37 to see my thread on the issue. It's not Octane's fault.
