Hi everybody!

I have an unsolved situation concerning this:

If i'm using the Cinema 4D Vertex Effect inside of an octane material im getting my expected result.
When i now put the vertex effect into a layer - the material is getting just white. How that? The normal C4D renderer is doing fine with layers and vertex maps.

I'm using Cinema 4D R16 with Octane 3.04.5R2

thank you for any hints!

What's "layer" meaning here?

the layer "effect" from the menu where you will find all other effects.
It's that pice that allows you to combine different effects inside one channel

Ok i know. Vertexmap implementation is not a type of textures which can be sampled by cpu. So it's not meanful with layer shader.

Allright, given that - which options do i have to maybe add some noise to a vertex map which is linked into a meterial channel instead of using layers?

You can use anythings like octane shaders with multiply texture. Also you can use c4d noises. But remember that using c4d shaders will cause extra calculation times before rendering. They are rendered to images to be used.

Allright, using the multiply effect to use my vertex map as a layermask did the Job :-) thanks a lot.

VERTEX MAP ABLE TO BE USED:

Use the newest Octane Version which has the vertex map node available within the node editor
use a mix material and hedge between the two following videos;
