I dont think very much info is being exchanged in the live connection at all but something or a combination of things doesnt seem right.
My connection is reasonably fast so...
perhaps we should be able to ping the server to diagnose excessive latency?
maybe the server isnt up to the task if 500 people are constantly hitting it even for just a little info...especially if Octane crashes and immediately people reconnect - like denial of service attack :)

Hm, by the first run i have enable my firewall and Octane find no connection.
I think when the server is busy, we should become the same message.

If this live service is hosted by an outside provider it could be that they are purposely throttling bandwidth and no of simultaneous connections to the Refractive account.
Perhaps radiance underestimated the requirements or didnt read the fine print.

Hahha, man some people are douchebags.

I want to test the software and help out radiance too mate, What I don't want to do is clog the forums with useless bug posts radiance KNOWS exists but could not fix in time because he was pressured into releasing a rushed compile at midnight because 200 people crying for it.

If they did not respond to all the bug related posts, I guess it wouldn't matter, but they do, and it drains alot of his time.

Think next time.

pedrofelipe,
If you have no issues with running Octane do you have 64 bit or 32 bit?
I wonder where the server is?
I see you are in the Netherlands, I think radiance is in Belgium??
I am on the other side of the planet

Sorry, but this prerelease is not usable for me. I'm able to open, load a scene or load a mesh (.obj), but after 2-3 clicks on any button, or movements of the camera, or changes in a material node it crashes.
I know it's beta, beta versions are meant to test. How can I test it this way?
Yesterday late night a give up after a certain time saying me to retry today. Now I see dozens of messages from users with same problem.
I think at this point we have to hear a statement from radiance.

I'm using the 64bits machine. Yeah thats true, refractivesoftware is around the corner but still, this is internet right?! well I also got a 20mb link at home and here at work too :D But I've read somewhere that the backbone servers are located in the US. Well don't know if I got that right.

ok thanks I see the happy people seem to be those with 64 bit so maybe 32 bit has a bug (or 2 or 3.. )?
so I'll wait on radiance to reappear and maybe fix something for us
