Octane doesn´t crash, but the saved image does. On the viewport is ok on both cases, single or dual gpus. But the saved image on dual gpu has some strange lines.sam75 wrote:no crash for you ?Diogo Moita wrote:Hi there,
Emitters are so very welcome, thank you! I´m sure that a lot of good interior renders will come up with this feature. The data basis ideia, will rock!!!
About bugs... the fire flies took over and I think you already know that (I´ll wait for MLT, no worries)![]()
That is a black line appearing on the botton. It appears colorful sometimes too. I thought it was related to multi gpus but no, it is happening on single gpu mode as well. And the emitter material stop emitting light. To fix this I tried to change the resolution and the kernel, and it worked. By the way, the emitter settings are the same on the first 2 shots. My machine is windows xp 64, i7 930, 12Gb and 2x GTX 470.
Thanks!

Ok that was the problem, I tried on another machine with single GPU and it saved the image. However on the Multi GPU machine, I was only using one GPU to render (480) and an onld Geforce for display, so I was not using both to render. When swapping GPUs roles still crashing.livuxman wrote:f I try to save the image using multi-GPU the program closes. With a single gpu works fine.

Also the procedural texture scaling problem disappeared when using single GPU. However, I still cannot pan the image.

I got that when using dual cards but on only larger one part of the render screen..Zay wrote:Crap like this can show if I change resolution (in this case 500x800) before or after I run the scene.
rest seems to work fine, c4d octane plugins works ok

Well, it is 02:35 in the morning and I have done my first tests with this new release.
The new features are interesting. I like the Outliner and the preference settings pages are a great progress ! Thank you !
Now, the bad side :
So far I have not got good results with emitting meshes. I will have to do trials with simpler scenes. I have tested emitting materials on the bulbs of the front lights of my Land Rover model : light emitted by the bulbs do not pass through the front glass. I have tried to create the front lights like in real worls with a bulb, a specular chrome reflector and a protective front glass, but it doesn't work. This projector doesn't casts light. The bulb is luminous and the inside of the reflector is lit, but no light is projected on the set outside the device.
Saving the rendered image gives a crash : White semi transparent screen over the GUI, and Octane is frozen. Same crash when clicking on nodes sometimes (quite often !)
Expanding the GUI to the two screens also leads to a crash
I also noticed that the file menu has two Open input lines.
I did my tests with my 8800 GTS 512 for the dual screen display and my GTX 260 in Cubix box for rendering.
More tests after some sleep.

I see the forums have less people now so maybe people go to bed and connections are not so many but I have endless problems here with crashing while loading.
Obviously some people have no problem and others cannot use Octane at all.
I dont know why. Server, firewall?
I'll give up trying and wait until tomorrow
What I saw every now and again working was good but its not happening atm here

Emission does not work with exterior scenes? All the white objects should be emmitting light, tried with path tracing and direct light.
