I work in mm units and have all 3d models scaled to a realistic physical scale. I have to use very low numerical increments to achieve normal looking results. For example, the noise pinned to a bump channel is very extreme unless using small numbers (.002). Another issue I am having is with ies lighting. The light seems very large and had to be scaled down to 5% to light correctly. Are these results typical?
I would like to transition my workflow to Modo -> Octane and have only scratched the surface with the Octane plugin. Are there reference materials regarding scene scale in regards to material nodes and lighting?

Thanks. My understanding is that if you have a 10mm x 10mm x 10mm cube, you are creating that in Modo as 10x10x10 which is actually 10m x 10m x 10m - causing the problem you are experiencing. The Octane plugin should pick up the actual size in Modo and transfer it to Octane (which is in the meters units). So you could try setting the Modo units to "mm" in the preferences (although then you existing scenes will be 100 time too big). Does that answer your question? Or Have I misunderstood the problem?

Thanks for clearing this up. It all makes perfect sense why the texture scale was so small.
I work with a lot of cad data which is scaled in mm and didn't take into account the scene units setting in the preferences. I'll make sure to do a more thorough trouble shoot next time before posting.
Thanks again.
