Hey guys,

I just ran into trouble rendering a big image for print (about 25k x 9,5k pixels, by 300dpi) and it keeps crashing..:) (2x 980ti and no heavy scene at all)
Is there somehow a limitation? Or do I miss something? Or is it ridiculous to render that size anyway and would you somehow uprez it later?
I have no experience with that kind of image sizes..!
Please help :)

Thanks in advance,
Remo

Well it is pretty big resolution oyu are trying but it's more important so know what dimensions you need (300 dpi by itself don't mean anything without measurements).
Big billboards aren't using 300dpi for printing 10 meters wide stuff, dpi is way lower as image size is bigger looked form larger distance.

The more pixels the more VRAM it takes. I ran into this kind of truble many times making bilboards.

You need to use "tile camera". You can find it in basic Cinema resources (if I remember well).
This will give you possibility to render just parts of the whole image. Then you can merge multiple images in Photoshop or similar SW.

If something is not clear run brilliant Octane help and serach for "tile camera".

Peace!

V3 can use RAM for buffers when VRAM is not enough.

Thats good to know!
Since I have v3/64GB of Ram I think I should try that tiling option!

Thanks a lot!
