Hi

Before i switched to cinema4d i was using 3dmax and vray, and right now, i have 2 problems with octane when working on my forest project which make the work practically impossible to finish.

When i have a cloner object with "render instance" option, i cant scatter it using another cloner which has a "render instance" option turned on.

Another thing is a proxy system, i know it was asked for a lot, i just wanted to add to the pool. I am also wondering how the road scene promoting octane 2.0 was made without a proxy system making objects boxes in viewport and high poly meshes in rendertime.

hi,
embedding a rinstance to other rinstance is not hard for a standart renderer. But c4d plugin not working as others. Even current implementation is very complex for render instances, but embedded support is horribly chaotic. Biggest problem is performance for realtime. So this is not possible for a while.

Second, you can put a display tag and select box for option. This will make possible to work

The display tag is working very well, the problem is not with viewport performance but with gpu memory (i am reusing the assests as much as i can but i need a lot of variety). Thanks for the reply and your work on the plugin. You are developing it so well that even though i used 3dmax most of my carrer i didnt think twice about buying the cinema4D version.

embedded render instances are in my target. But as i said it's a real maddnes to implement for realtime feedbacks. Things can be very complex to handle/resolve in milliseconds and transfer to Octane without hitting the stability. We will be in more advanced stage after some break, i'll give more effort.

Any success with this yet?? Checking render instance actually affects my geometry in some cases and I would like to be able to render w/ octane and still get the desired result.
