Hi
When we add emission node we get just fire when we dont it is just smoke. How can we have nice looking fire/smoke like in phoenix preview window? What settings do we need to use
not sure if it is phoenix/octane bug but adding emission makes smoke glow. It's like octane cannot tell difference between actual fire and smoke like you can see in phoenix preview

Thank you

Hi coilbook,
you are right, you need to use the volume gradient in the texture emission.
I have attached a sreenshot about a quick test in SA.
I'm not sure to have correspondence in 3dsMax, therefore I am checking about this.

Hi coilbook,
I verified, there are different values between 3dsMax and SA.
Attached a medium volume file.
you can download fire.vdb from

and i have one more question

should we mess with octane volume settings like emission scale , absorption scatter scales or the proper way is to leave them at 1 and control flame brightness, absorption through volume medium texture? What does 1 mean in emission scale does it equal 1 meter?
seems like when you mess with volume medium texture parameters and octane volume settings modifier it gets confusing with too many options to get the best results,

thank you

Hi coilbook,
I'm still checking all parameters between Octane and 3dsMax.
Meanwhile, I would advise you to read these two sections of the documentation.
