Ok, I understand the point of the "object layer", but can't figure what "object layer map" is doing?
Second, why there is not option to add object layer after geometry node? Let's say, I have a ton of alembic objects in a different files. Then I merge them with "geometry group" and want that group with the same "object layer" properties, or color for matting. How to do that?
Do I have to go through all the objects, enter alembic properties, enable object layer to see the pin, close property ppg, and connect "object layer" to ALL the object nodes? If that is the only way to do that, I am free to say that it is crazy.
Almost all the time I need this for the RGB masking with "object layer color" pass.
BUT! One big BUT! How to have more mattes? There can be only 3 colors in the RGB mask. Material ID or Object ID passes are USELESS in production! Why don't you implement CRYPTOMATTE? Is that hard? Psyop gave library for free. It's really, really, really time saver!
I really like the quality that Octane produces, but using it in a production (I mostly think about video) can be real pain in the ass. Lets say, why there is no option to time shift/offset alembic file? Instance over alembic particles? Who the hell is using CSV?! Texture mipmapping (with option not to mipmap)?Transform gizmo in the viewport? And so on...
All this I am speaking about standalone version, because I think that standalone has more advantages when speaking about studio/video usage, and with some adjustments Octane standalone can be used and look like Katana or Clarisse that are very well oriented that way.
object layer, object layer map? and some more...
