I don't have time to explore all features and understand them by myself.
A proper documentation is needed.

Hi,

Agreed. Currently the documentation is out-of-date and a challenge to maintain across the board. The solution has involved enforcing a unified documentation standard across all plugins, redesigning the internal systems of the Docs website, and generating new content (write-ups, FAQs, and tutorial videos) in-house. We are seeking to comprehensively resolve this issue for all Octane users, though it is a huge undertaking. Apologies for the inconvenience, and hopefully the forums can be of some assistance for you while we work to get proper docs and tutorials rolled out in full.

So what, do we have to wait for octane v4 to have a serious documentation on v3 ?

I'm fine with them taking the time needed in order to create solid, comprehensible, top notch content. On the other hand, we can push for them to get it done fast which is likely to be sub par. Take the necessary time needed... Maybe calling upon/hiring the gurus and pro's to assist in developing the content could speed up the process.

Seriously ? V3 is out since 7 months ... Do you really think it's not enough to make a good documentation ?

I think it's plenty of time if they devoted some resources to it... however, if they haven't allocated resources to it and nothing has been done... then they will need the time from the point when they do. I'm not saying it's acceptable since the competition is on top of things. At the same time, much of that competition in their earlier days, were in the same boat.

I think if they were to continue with the strong connection to the community, at least temporarily hire some of the pro's and gurus to create solid quality content, it would happen faster. By doing this, there is the benefit that resources aren't pulled from any of the development.

Trust me, I'm as frustrated about it as you are since I'm a Maya user. Just look at the Maya development right now. At the same time, I want to be constructive and offer ideas that may help solve the issues at hand.
