Benchmark score drops with GPU count

In the node with 6x980Ti I get a score of 110 for single 980Ti but only 570 for 6x980Ti. I am using modified pascal benchmark. So as I increase the number of GPUs score per GPU gets lower and lower. From 110 to 95. I don't think it is the heat since these are STRIX models spaced out in an open rig. Could it be because I have a shitty Celeron G1840 processor inside ? Could the processor speed affect the final score so much ? CPU load is at 60% all the time. I need advice so I can decide of I should upgrade to i5 or i7.
