I can only agree.
At the company I work for, we decided in February to upgrade and invest in a new render engine. I did my research and there was and still is a reasonable competition some even cheaper. One of the reasons I choose Otoy, was the weekly updates on the plugin, as it promised quick fix for bugs we may encounter and also 3.0 version looked very promising. However since the end of March support has basically stopped. My team has encountered numerous bugs and weak points in the plugin which never been fixed. You, the Otoy team claim you are rewriting the code of the plugin to support Otoy 3 and you have to rewrite it for v2 as well as the previous code is no longer sustainable.
More than 6 months passed without result.
You have been selling v3 plugin licenses since July but there is still no production ready plugin.
The v2 maya plugin's feature set is significantly lower than other plugins'.
The forum has been seriously restricted.
If I go to the otoy shop, i don't see any warnings or information about the limited feature set, support for maya plugin. Also it costs the same which is a really ugly deal from the otoy team.
Even when the team's lack of competence is painfully obvious you still deny, point fingers, make promises but do very little very slowly.
I feel very disappointed and also cheated.
It almost seems to me that you are slowly killing the maya plugin. Frightfully hoping you are not going to get sued.
I'm going to look for other channels to reach management of otoy and find the answers. I urge everyone here to do the same.

^ that......
is exactly how we feel as well...
I think you should be honest and just not sell something that you can't make true.
Being honest in this case would have been more helpful to us, and would have been appreciated rather than being dishonest and bringing us all into this shit.

Hi all,
We try to avoid giving specific dates if we feel that there are still too many unforeseen factors at work. That would only make sincere promises-made-false all the more frustrating. We still try to be as upfront as we can, and will continue to do so.
I can now say, at this point, the updated V2 plugin, with Pascal support, is looking ready to go. This version has been built on top of the upcoming 2.26 (see viewtopic.php?f=24&t=56982 for more details) version of Octane. The upcoming version of this plugin has involved additional developer support to accelerate the development time (with direct involvement from JimStar). A tentative release date is set for 15 November - there are some performance issues in the 2.26 Standalone that are being resolved at the moment, and the preference is for the release of the Maya plugin to come after these resolutions have been implemented. If the release date needs to be pushed to accommodate these updates to the core renderer, then I will keep you updated on that.
Hopefully the release of this new version can get everyone back on track with their production work, while we continue to get V3 out of Alpha.

thank you for the update Azen. Whatever happens, please do us the courtesy of an update if that date happens to be missed. It is so frustrating to be in the dark and not know what's going on if a tentative date is missed.

Hi,
That is perfectly fair, and I apologize for not being as responsive as I should have been.
Things are looking good so far in-house, but I will be sure to properly inform you all about any potential hiccups (or preferably, just a quick message saying that the plugin is up and ready to download).

Hey all,
It was determined that the state of the plugin was sufficient for release now, rather than waiting for the tentative release time. We will keep close watch over user feedback on this new build. Hopefully this satisfies the needs of our users that have invested in Pascal-based GPUs.
You will find all three builds (Windows, OSX, and Linux) in the V2 Releases section.

Just wondering... is there any way to run this version on Maya 2014?
