Hi!
I saw a post a while ago saying that Otoy will support AMD gpu's with a new developed platform: http://venturebeat.com/2016/03/09/otoy- ... platforms/
Is this coming soon or?
I need to make some decisions regarding my hardware options.
Thank you!
Will Octane support AMD gpu's?

If you can wait at least 6 months, maybe a year, go for it, i'd say. Coding takes time.
If not, you probably know what to do. Nvidia route, and if youre in animation ORC could be of use.

We have a fully functional build of 3.0 running on AMD GPUs. As I mentioned in a similar thread, we are facing unacceptable instability in AMD GPU drivers that would break Octane every 8 weeks. AMD is aware of this issue and needs to fix for us to push out to users.
Could you reveal how fast is AMD in Octane?Goldorak wrote:We have a fully functional build of 3.0 running on AMD GPUs. We know from Brigade tests that it's basically the same performance/$$ as nvidia GPUs - at least when optimized. To that end, just like Pascal support we have to tune for AMD GPUs to get full performance. Months of work. Not going to do more work on this before AMD fixes driver issues mentioned above. I can't emphasize enough that without this fix we can't ship even an alpha to you guys that is worth testing for more than a few weeks before new AMD driver update breaks all the code again. It's not commercially viable. Ball is in their court to fix, not just for us but for similar large scale commercial GPGPU software products.
