Hi everyone,

Not sure if this is the correct place to post. Please let me know if its better posted in another forum and Ill repost.

Ive been using the following machine to do Renderings/art with Octane and Rhino for some time and it has been fantastic except for being very noisy
and having to heat up the rampage 4 extreme with a hair dryer to get it to boot during colder weather.

Silverstone Fortress Case
Intel 3930k 2011 pin
asus rampge IV extreme
intel 520 240 ssd
wd black 1Tb hrd drive
GPU gtx 690 4gb
corsair AX 1200w power supply
Noctua nh 14 cooler
32g ddr 1600 ram

unfortunately, the motherboard has had it and I need to rebuild.

Can anyone give me some recommendations for what to keep or change etc for a good Octane machine that will last me a while.
Im thinking of something like keeping the following

Silverstone case
intel 520 240 ssd
wd black 1Tb hrd drive
GPU gtx 690 4gb
corsair AX 1200w power supply

and adding
ID-Cooling Frostflow 240L
Maybe another gtx690 or selling the 690 and buying a GTX 980ti and close looped water-cooling it

But I have no idea what a good performance/price point motherboard, cpu and Ram combination would work and be compatible with my existing stuff.

I dont do animations or huge architectural scenes with lots of lights and references at this stage but I do do space ship vehicle renderings, landscapes etc. Im happy to spend a bit of money for the right gear.

Any recommendations would be great. Thanks for your help everyone.

Cheers from Adelaide in South Australia

Tim
