Hi
I have recently built a PC specifically for using octane render.
I was so excited, but unfortunately It seems I wont be able to use it.
I tried octane standalone demo which is working perfectly but when I am using octanec4d whenever I am clicking on Material editor
it freezes and crashes as well as cinema 4d sometimes.
I also opened demo scene file provided by otoy in cinema 4d and render with octane engine, render 72 frames just in flash less than 4 minutes.
So, the only issue is Just when I am applying material or opening exciting material.
My specification:
CPU: Intel i7 6850k
RAM: 32 gb 2400
PSU: Evga1300W Gold
GPU:
2 x Asus GTX 780 ti directcu ll OC 3GB
2 X EVGA GTX 780 SC 6GB
Windows 10 updated
Nvidia Driver updated
Cuda: updated
Cinema 4d r17: updated
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEMsajtFFRY
I even removed 2 gpu if it is because of power consumption still the same issue.
So I am worry if I purchase the standalone and c4d plugin I will have the same problem.
Any assistance is much appreciate.
Thanks,
Mamad

Hi Mamad,
I saw your video, I have made exactly the same steps that you made in your video without issues, so maybe there is something wrong in your setup
It seems that you have installed the CUDA toolkit, this is not necessary, especially under Windows and should be removed.
Please, download and install the drivers directly from Nvidia site, be careful to perform a clean installation, in order to remove any old driver.
Octane for Windows comes with all the necessary CUDA staff, so you don't need to install anything else.
Then, in the Nvidia control panel, verify that the SLI option or the MultiGPU option is disabled.
In the c4d Devices preferences, you should enable the Priority option only for the GPU directly connected to the monitor, and is always better to have a dedicated GPU for that, even the Intel integrated GPU, leaving the GTX for Octane only.
Let me know if you have a better response after this changes.
ciao beppe

Hi Beppe
Thank you for your respond.
The reason, I download it"Cuda toolkit" thought It might help it.
I already updated GPUs directly from Nvidia's website.
And the SLI mode is disabled.
In the c4d device preferences, I also made one of gpus only dedicated for monitor connection.
Unfortunately, the result is the same as before.
Do you think If I get the octane and c4dplugin I will still have the problem?
Thanks,
Mamad
