Long Long tme I don't post in here, I must be honest, this is for a comparison between Octane and Fstorm and I must say that one of the reason why I still did not update to 3 is because of something like Adaptive Sampling not yet implemented and no ETA still on the Horizon.. being myself more a modeller than an animator I need to cut some rendertimes also through an optimization of the core..I understand all Otoy Needs to invest much into the Ani department and more but releases are getting slower and most important.. we need a proper Vray ( at least ) converter for the materials..can't believe other competitors already have that facility and Octane does not... sorry this little rant but necessary IMHO

^This... Still waiting for Adaptive Sampling as well.
Been keeping an eye on Fstorm as it's still growing. Competition is good.

I saw your Fstorm version too, really great. In my opinion the light and colour balance were far more natural in the Fstorm render.
I think Fstorm will have fully overtaken Octane for Max when the commercial release is finished, based on a comparison of development history and customer interaction I believe Fstorm will outpace Octane for Max x 3 times minimum. That is where I believe the smart money is at.

Much Appreciate your comment, I believe Fstorm has the Contrast and Burn setting that Octane has not that help make textures more 'punchy' I did some test playing with Contrast in Post.. getting very near to an usual Fstorm quality.. my wonder always been how is that the normal Octane texture result looks more 'washy' comopare to Fstorm, I hope the development will move asap towards Adaptive Sample for clear the noise faster and some more..Gestaltdesign wrote:I saw your Fstorm version too, really great.
